PRODUCTION
Proposed Texas Oil Production Cuts Dropped by Regulator - The Texas regulator who had proposed mandating oil production cuts by 1 million barrels per day now says the issue is "dead," a day before the state was set to vote on the measure. Texas Railroad Commissioner Ryan Sitton told Bloomberg the measure lacks support from the three-member agency, and he will no longer make a motion to vote on it. (Seeking Alpha)
NATURAL GAS
U.S. Natural Gas Jumps to 15-Week High - U.S. natural gas futures jumped on Monday to a 15-week high on forecasts for cooler weather and more heating demand over the next two weeks than previously expected and a slowing of output as drillers shut oil wells in shale basins that produce associated gas. Front-month gas futures for June delivery on the New York Mercantile Exchange rose 10.3 cents, or 5.4%, to settle at $1.993 per million British thermal units, their highest close since January 17. PIPELINES
Enbridge to Offer Storage on Part of Mainline System - Enbridge Incorporated (NYSE:ENB) said on Monday it has reached a deal with shippers to temporarily store crude oil in North America's largest oil pipeline network from June 1 and is working with governments to provide additional capacity. The Mainline, Canada's longest oil pipeline system, has capacity for nearly 3 million barrels per day, moving western Canadian oil to U.S. refiners. The company is offering about 900,000 barrels of storage, equivalent to about four standard-sized tanks, for an eight-month term, a spokeswoman said. It would use an older portion of its Line 3 Pipeline in Canada before the line is decommissioned next year. (Reuters)
