Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, Texas). Transwestern Pipeline Company (Houston, Texas), a subsidiary of Enron Corporation (Houston, Texas) is planning to construct a scaled down version of the original Sun Devil Project. Transwestern plans to file the three-phase expansion project with the FERC in the first quarter of 2004 and hopes to begin construction in 2005. In the first phase (PEC 43000304), Transwestern plans to construct the San Juan Lateral, which entails the construction of 100-Miles of 36" diameter transmission pipeline from the Blanco Hub to Gallup New Mexico and a 10,000 horsepower electric-driven compressor addition at the Bloomfield SJ-1 Compressor Station.
In the second phase, Transwestern will construct 180-Miles of new 36" diameter transmission pipeline from Flagstaff to Phoenix Arizona with the possibility of a new 20,000-40,000 horsepower compressor station near Ashfork Arizona. In the third and final phase Transwestern will loop their pipeline between San Juan and Flagstaff, which again would entail about 100-miles of new 36" diameter pipe with a MAOP of 1,000 psi. The total natural gas transmission capacity increase of the expansion is still to be defined.
Transwestern Pipeline Company is a subsidiary of Enron Corporation (Houston Texas). As a part of Enron's chapter 11 plan, the company plans to group its pipeline interests, which include Transwestern, Citrus Corporation, and Northern Plains Natural Gas Company, together under a new entity called CrossCountry Energy Corporation. CrossCountry will incorporate Enron's interest in three major natural gas pipeline systems with approximately 8.5 Bcf/d of capacity and over 9,000 miles of transmission pipeline.
Transwestern Pipeline Company is currently a wholly owned 2,600 mile system extending from Texas to California. Citrus Corporation is a 50/50 joint venture with Southern Natural Gas a subsidiary of El Paso Corporation and owns & operates the 5,000 mile Florida Gas Transmission system that originates in Texas and extends to southern Florida. Northern Plains Natural Gas Company is one of the general partners of Northern Border Partners LP, which holds ownership interests in Northern Border Pipeline Company, Midwestern Gas Transmission Company, Viking Gas Transmission Company and Guardian Pipeline LLC.
