U.S. Senate Committee Passes Antitrust Bill Pressuring OPEC - A U.S. Senate committee passed a bill on Thursday that could expose the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and partners to lawsuits for collusion on boosting crude oil prices. The No Oil Producing or Exporting Cartels (NOPEC) bill sponsored by senators passed 17-4 in the Senate Judiciary Committee. (Reuters)

EOG Reports Higher Quarterly Profit on Higher Prices, Volumes - U.S. shale producer EOG Resources Incorporated's (NYSE:EOG) (Houston, Texas) adjusted income rose to $2.35 billion in the quarter ended March 31, from $946 million in the prior-year quarter. EOG's first-quarter total production volumes were 883,300 barrels of oil equivalent per day (Boe/d), up from 778,900 Boe/d a year earlier. EOG saw its average crude oil prices jump 65% during the reported quarter to $96.00 per barrel. (Reuters)

Enbridge Keeps Eye on LNG Developments - Canadian pipeline company Enbridge Incorporated (NYSE:ENB) (Calgary) reported on Friday a rise in first-quarter profit, and outlined expansion plans as global demand for liquefied natural gas (LNG) surges. "LNG exports are a big opportunity, with momentum building across the U.S. Gulf Coast, and now more so in western Canada," Enbridge Chief Executive Al Monaco said on an earnings conference call. Enbridge supplies about 2 billion cubic feet a day (Bcf/d) of gas to four LNG plants on the U.S. Gulf Coast. Monaco said the company has inked agreements to supply three more Gulf Coast projects that could add up to 7 Bcf/d of gas and more than $2 billion in new investments. (Reuters)
