ExxonMobil Beaumont Refinery $300 Million Cogeneration Expansion Underway

Foundation work for a 465 megawatt cogen addition is underway at ExxonMobil's (Irving, TX) (NYSE:XOM)Beaumont Refinery in Jefferson County.
Jefferson County Power Partners, LP (JCPP), a joint venture of Black & Veatch (Overland Park, Kansas) and Zachry Construction Corporation (San Antonio, Texas), was recently selected as the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor for the cogeneration power island that is part of an expansion and upgrade of the existing utilities plant at the refinery. JCPP mobilized on site in July. ENGlobal Engineering, Incorporated (AMEX:ENG) (Houston, Texas), has been awarded detailed engineering, procurement and construction management for all work performed within the boundaries of the refinery.
The new power island will consist of three GE Power Systems Frame 7FA combustion turbine generators each with a heat recovery steam generator and will tie in to the existing cogeneration system at the refinery. Construction of the new power island is expected to take 18-months with commercial startup targeted for the Third Quarter of 2005.
