Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated). FedEx Ground, an operating unit of Federal Express Corporation (NYSE: FDX) (Memphis, Tennessee), starts construction on a new distribution hub in Hagerstown, Maryland (PEC 26000821). The new hub is part of a $1.8 billion network expansion plan calling for 10 facilities to be built over the next six years. The $1.8 billion expansion also calls for the expansion of 23 existing hubs and the expansion or relocation of over 300 pickup and delivery terminals. The nationwide expansion is expected to double the company's average daily volume capacity to 4.8 million packages due to increased customer demand.
