Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas). Florida Power & Light Company (FPL), a subsidiary of FPL Group, Incorporated (NYSE:FPL) (North Palm Beach, Florida), is preparing for a refueling outage in April on the 850-megawatt (MW) Unit 01 at the Saint Lucie Nuclear Power Station in Jensen Beach, Florida.
During Unit 01s 45-day outage, major inspections and repairs will be performed on the reactor vessel head, steam generators, condensers, pressurizers, and associated equipment.
The Steam Generating Team, Limited (Charlotte, North Carolina) and Framatome ANP (Lynchburg, Virginia) have been chosen to perform the 70-day upgrade on Saint Lucies Unit 02 this fall. The reactor vessel head (RVH) will be replaced along with two steam generators. Project completion is expected by the end of December 2007.
FPLs Turkey Point Nuclear Stations (Homestead, Florida) Unit 03 also has refueling activities scheduled this fall on its 760 MW Westinghouse pressurized-water-reactor and its 760 MW Unit 04 in spring 2008. The 1,520 MW Turkey Point Nukes are on 18-month refueling cycles.
