Gamesa Energy Begins Construction of $36 Million Sandy Ridge Windfarm

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Gamesa Energy USA (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) has begun construction on the company's $36 million, 18-megawatt (MW) Sandy Ridge Windfarm project near Tyrone, Pennsylvania.

Construction for the project began earlier this fall and is slated to be completed and ready to commence full commercial operations by the spring of 2011. The project will consist of constructing nine Gamesa 2-MW, G90-model wind turbine generators that will be arranged near the city of Tyrone, in Blair County. A second phase of the project is in the engineering stage and is scheduled to begin construction shortly after the first phase of Sandy Ridge is operational. The second phase of Sandy Ridge will feature an additional 16 wind turbines that will be the same model as the first phase.

D.H. Blattner & Sons Incorporated (Avon, Minnesota) will provide the turnkey engineering, procurement and construction services for the duration of the project.
