General Contractor Selected for El Segundo Power Plant Combined-Cycle Addition
A general contractor has been selected to construct NRG Energy Incorporated's (NYSE:NRG) (Princeton, New Jersey) combined-cycle addition at its plant in El Segundo, California.

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--ARB Incorporated (Lake Forest, California) has been selected as the general contractor to construct NRG Energy Incorporated's (NYSE:NRG) (Princeton, New Jersey) combined-cycle addition at its plant in El Segundo, California.
The natural gas-fired, 840-megawatt facility includes three General Electric (NYSE:GE) cross-compound steam turbine-generators with one Babcock & Wilcox and two Alstom Combustion Engineering tangential-fired boilers. The plant became operational in 1955.
The combined-cycle addition consists of two power blocks with Siemens (NYSE:SI) SCC6-5000F combustion turbine generators, heat recovery steam generators (HRSGs), steam turbines and associated equipment. The units are also equipped with dry low-NOx and a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system to reduce emissions.
Construction is scheduled for this summer, with project completion set for mid-2013.
