Global Common Starts Construction of New Generating Station in New York

Global Common has entered into a 12-year power purchase agreement with the LIPA (Long Island Power Authority). The Greenport plant can be dispatched directly by LIPA through remote control from a LIPA dispatch and control center.

Global Common has started construction of a new 54 megawatt (MW) generating station in Greenport, Long Island, New York. The Greenport generating station will be located at the Moores Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant.

Global Common has entered into a 12-year power purchase agreement with the LIPA (Long Island Power Authority). The Greenport plant can be dispatched directly by LIPA through remote control from a LIPA dispatch and control center. Operation in synchronous condenser mode will also be available as an option.

The Greenport generating station will operate a Pratt & Whitney FT8 Swift-Pac consisting of two opposed oil-fired combustion turbines connected to single double-ended generator. Each combustion turbine generator has the nameplate capability of producing 27 megawatts of electricity.

New York based, Global Common is a project development company that specializes in energy and pollution control projects. Global Common principals have development experience in land-based and barge mounted gas, liquid fueled combined cycle facilities, integrated gasification combined cycle, and coal fueled generating projects.

Global Common awarded the construction contract for this project to the New York based Hawkeye Construction Company. Hawkeye offers complete construction services including electric transmission & distribution, line construction, power generation construction & maintenance, tree trim & right of way clearing, fiber optic cable installation, gas main service, installation, survey and repair as well as general construction.
