Green Power Solutions LLC to Build Georgia's Largest Biomass Power Station

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Green Power Solutions LLC (GPS) (Hazlehurst, Georgia), a subsidiary of Beasley Forest Products (Hazlehurst, Georgia), plans to construct Georgia's largest biomass power generation facility in Dublin, Georgia.

GPS' 56-megawatt biomass power facility will burn 1.2 million tons of wood and other biomass material to fuel the plant. A 20-year agreement is in the works to sell its electricity to Georgia Power (Atlanta, Georgia), a subsidiary of The Southern Company (NYSE:SO) (Atlanta).

GPS is investing $25 million in the project, which will be located alongside an existing paper mill. GPS already has been given approval from the Georgia Public Service Commission to proceed with the plant, which is in the design and permitting stages. If all goes well, construction is set to begin in mid-2012. The facility will take about a year to complete. GPS has selected ESI Incorporated of Tennessee (Kennesaw, Georgia) to provide design and engineering services.

The plant will be on Papermill Road in Dublin, which is about 60 miles northwest of Macon, Georgia.
