Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas). The Phase II Expansion Project of Guohua Dingzhou Power Plant received approval from the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), the top planner in China, by File Dispatch No. 1313 on June 15, 2007. This marks the completion of the pre-stage preparation work for phase II. It also marks the project’s official construction stage. This is another important milestone in the development history of Dingzhou Power Plant.

Guohua Dingzhou Power Plant is located in Dingzhou city in North China’s Hebei province. The power plant has a planned installation capacity of 2,400 MW with four 600 MW units. Two 600 MW coal-fired units manufactured in China with imported technology were built in the phase I, which were put into operation in April and September 2004. Phase II will entail the construction of two 600 MW air-cooled supercritical coal-fired generating units, together with a flue gas desulfurization device.

Guohua Dingzhou Power Plant is invested and managed by Hebei Guohua Dingzhou Power Generation Company, Limited (Guohua Dingzhou) (Hebei, China), which was initially established by Beijing Guohua Electric Power Company Limited (Beijing, China), a fully owned subsidiary of China Shenhua Energy Company Limited (Beijing, China), Hebei Provincial Construction Investment Corporation (Hebei, China) and Hebei Electric Power Company (Hebei, China) on August 15, 2000.

Total investment of phase II will be $630 million; 20% of the total investment, namely about $126 million of the project, will be invested by shareholders of Guohua Dingzhou, and the rest will be funded by a loan from the bank. Construction will last about 23 months and both units are expected to be operational by 2009.
