Hartford Steel Technologies Continues Plans for Zinc Oxide Super Facility
Currently, HST and Maumee Research & Engineering Incorporated (Northwood, Ohio) are operating a demonstration unit in Perrysburg, Ohio.
Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, TX). Hartford Steel Technologies (HST) (Hartford, Connecticut) plans to finalize a site for its proposed 'Super Facility' in northwest Ohio by the end of summer. This facility will include both dry-end and wet-end production. Through this two-stage process, HST will convert sludge/scale, electric arc furnace (EAF) dust, and fine coal into direct reduced iron (DRI) and crude zinc oxide. The DRI and crude zinc oxide is further processed into a purified form, salt, and other derivatives. Zinc oxide is utilized in the pharmaceutical and rubber industries.
Currently, HST and Maumee Research & Engineering Incorporated (Northwood, Ohio) are operating a demonstration unit in Perrysburg, Ohio. Both companies are conducting engineering and refining the process at the Perrysburg location.
HST was founded in 1998 and is located in Hartford, Connecticut. The company is currently developing commercial-scale zinc oxide plants in Mississippi and Ohio to combat abundance in electric arc furnace (EAF) dust. EAF is a by-product in steel production.
