Heineken has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Minas Gerais state government in Brazil to construct a new brewery facility in Pedro Leopoldo as part of a $1.8 billion real (US$350 million) investment.

The facility will produce the company's premium line of beers such as Heineken, Amstel and Devassa, in addition to manufacturing beer crates. Further details of the facility will be made known in 2021.

Heineken already operates 15 production facilities in Brazil, including 12 breweries, in addition to 29 distribution centers. With the construction of the new facility in Pedro Leopoldo, Minas Gerais shall be home to all the major beer producers in Brazil: Heineken, Ambev and Grupo Petropolis.
