Iberdrola Renewable Energies Begins Construction of $80 Million Minnesota Windfarm Expansion Project

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Iberdrola Renewable Energies USA Limited (Portland, Oregon) a subsidiary of Grupo Iberdrola SA (Bilbao, Spain), has started site preparation for the $80 million, 50-megawatt (MW) Moraine II expansion project at the existing Moraine Windfarm in Woodstock, Minnesota.

Site preparation for the project began this month and is scheduled to be completed and ready for full commercial operation by the spring of 2009. The project will consist of installing 33 GE Energy (NYSE:GE) ((Fairfield, Connecticut) 1.5-MW sle model wind turbine generators to the existing facility. The expansion will boost the facility's nameplate capacity to a total of 101 MW.

Fagen Incorporated, based in Granite, Minnesota, will provide the turnkey engineering, procurement, and construction services throughout the duration of the project.
