IIR Top Chemical Processing News Today: May 28th 2020

Dow Chemical has postponed a 30-day turnaround of the 550 million-pound-per-year LDPE Poly D unit in Plaquemine, Louisiana. The timing and scheduling for the turnaround, which was originally planned to take place in May, is being re-evaluated due to issues surrounding COVID-19. It is tentatively being planned to take place in May 2021.

Dow Chemical has postponed a 30-day turnaround of the 550 million-pound-per-year LDPE Poly D unit in Plaquemine, Louisiana. The timing and scheduling for the turnaround, which was originally planned to take place in May, is being re-evaluated due to issues surrounding COVID-19. It is tentatively being planned to take place in May 2021.

MarkWest-Javelina Company began last-minute planned maintenance at its 180 million-pound-per-year ethylene unit in Corpus Christi, Texas. The unit was shut down on May 24 for pipeline maintenance and is expected to be restarted on June 2.

International
Yanbu National Petrochemical Company plans a 30-day maintenance turnaround of the 2.86 billion-pound-per-year ethylene unit, which will begin November 22, at its Yanbu'al Bahr Complex in Saudi Arabia. Expectations are to complete repairs and restart the unit by December 21.

SABIC UK Petrochemicals has rescheduled a planned turnaround at its Wilton Petrochemical (North Tees Work) plant in the U.K. The 4-week planned maintenance on its 2.3 billion-pound-per-year ethylene, 882 million-pound-per-year polyethylene resins (and associated) units, which was initially planned to kick off in May, has been rescheduled to take place in October due to COVID-19.

CF Fertilisers UK Limited remains on schedule to perform a planned maintenance turnaround at its Chester Fertilizers Plant in the U.K. The major 4-week maintenance on the 290,000-metric ton-per-year ammonia unit is planned to kick off in early March 2021.
