Shell has begun to receive a limited daily power allocation from Entergy at its 240,000-barrel-per-day (BBL/d) Norco Refinery in Louisiana, in the wake of Hurricane Ida. At this time, there is no set timeline for the restart, as Shell continues to assess the site and awaits full restoration of power.
Valero has begun to receive a limited daily power allocation from Entergy at its 230,000-BBL/d Saint Charles Refinery in Louisiana, in the wake of Hurricane Ida. At this time, there is no set timeline for the restart, as Valero continues to assess the site and awaits full restoration of power.
Valero continues with restart procedures at its 135,000-BBL/d Meraux Refinery in Louisiana now that power has been restored. The facility was shut down on August 28 ahead of Hurricane Ida. Valero expects the site to return to normal operations by the end of the week.
Valero has no plans to shut down its 220,000-BBL/d Bill Greehey West Complex in Corpus Christi, Texas, due to Tropical Storm Nicholas.
Flint Hills has no plans to shut down its 210,000-BBL/d West Refinery Complex in Corpus Christi, Texas due to Tropical Storm Nicholas.
CITGO Petroleum has no plans to shut down the West and East sides of its 165,000-BBL/d Corpus Christi Refining Complex due to Tropical Storm Nicholas.
International
PDVSA, on September 12, restarted the 120,000-BBL/d Crude 3, 85,000-BBL/d Crude 1, 17,000-BBL/d Naphtha Hydrotreater 1, and associated units, at its 625,000-BBL/d Amuay Refinery in Venezuela, which was forced to shut down on September 9, along with all other processing units, due to a power blackout. The 80,000-BBL/d Fluid Catalytic Cracker Unit (FCCU) remains offline but will come online once boilers and crude distillation units are stable. The 120,000-BBL/d Crude Distillation 4 and 180,000-BBL/d Crude 5 units remain offline.
Esfahan Oil Refining Company (EORC), on September 9, restarted five units at its 360,000-BBL/d (actual capacity: 335,000 BBL/d) Esfahan Refinery in Iran. The units had been under a planned maintenance shutdown since July 25.
Phillips 66 has started a partial maintenance turnaround at its 245,000-BBL/d Humber Refinery in the U.K. The turnaround of the 52,600-BBL/d Vacuum Distillation Unit (VDU) 3, and associated secondary units, began in early September, and completion is expected in the last week of the month. Meanwhile, the 2022 maintenance turnaround of four units, and associated units, has been pushed from May to September 2022.
