The Hitachinaka Power Station's biomass hopper building had smoke in September 2022. The fire was extinguished after seven hours by firefighters. The cause of the smoke was imported biomass fuel that was defective.
The Chiba Sodegaura Biomass Power Station's storage silos began smoldering in January this year. Firefighters have still not completely extinguished the blaze.
The Maizuru Power Station caught fire in March, and two biomass silos were completely burnt down.
