Reported by Annette Kreuger, Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--It has been a great run this year for the Pharmaceutical-Biotech Industry's manufacturing conference and exhibition INTERPHEX 2014, held March 18-20 in New York City, at the Jacob Javits Convention Center. Among the highlights were the five "Technologies Tours" sponsored by IPS-Integrated Project Services.
The popular and informative walking tours included: Biomanufacturing Technologies, Advanced Aseptic, Inspection and Packaging, Modular Construction, and Oral Solid Dosage. All offered an in-depth look into the latest equipment, innovation and manufacturing technologies offered by leading vendors and internationally recognized experts.
The mood on the conference floor remained upbeat and optimistic, with each booth showcasing their unique contributions to the industry. The Allegheny Bradford Corporation (Bradford, Pennsylvania), at Booth 2529, highlighted its expertise as a manufacturer and fabricator of the highest-quality heat exchangers, filter housing, tanks, pressure vessels, process systems and custom fabrication in stainless steel and high-nickel alloys for the pharmaceutical industry for end users and OEM.
The GEA Group (Columbia, Maryland) has a massive booth (#2421). Also part of the ISP Oral Solid Dosage Technologies Tour, the GEA Process Engineering group explained the basics of potent compounds and fire and explosion hazard prevention associated with Oral Solid Dosage Form equipment and manufacturing. Also featured were advancements in the current technology and suggested operating procedures for the processing of potent and hazardous materials. The procedures are intended minimize risk to the facility and its operators.
For 2014, INTERPHEX is in a new partnership with premier sponsor Parenteral Drug Association (PDA). This year's conference brought together more than 12,000 industry professionals and more than 650 exhibitors to learn, network and source from the latest technology, equipment, education and services.
