King's Hawaiian Plans to Expand Georgia Facilities

Reported by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--King's Hawaiian Bakery West Incorporated (Torrance, California) is finalizing plans to construct a new facility in Oakwood, Georgia. The company will expand its bread products manufacturing and distribution operations at the existing 111,000-square-foot building in the Oakwood South Industrial Park. The facility is expected to create 126 new jobs when it becomes operational in the fall of 2011. Additional jobs are expected to be created at a later date.

Although King's Hawaiian did not disclose how much the project will cost, it is estimated that the new facility could be about $10 million. Pattillo Construction Company (Tucker, Georgia) was retained as the design-build for the project. Subcontractor bids will be accepted by invitation only. On-site construction is expected to begin before the end of the year.

The company today operates a 150,000 square-foot bakery in Torrance, California where it produces more than 1.2 million pounds of breads and rolls daily, supplying half of the branded dinner rolls sold in the U.S. Upon completion of the new facility, the company envisages to further expand distribution of its products.
