Industrialinfo.com first reported phase I of this multi-million dollar expansion in June of 2000 and updated its progress in January of this year, see related Industry Alert: KoSa Begins Expansion in North Carolina. Phase II is scheduled to be complete in the spring of next year and planning has already began for phase III, which could begin construction late next year. Early studies and evaluations for phase III indicate it has the potential to be substantially larger than the current phase II worth an estimated $5 million.
Perigon Architects and Engineering Associates (Matthew, North Carolina) provided design and engineering services for the first two phases.
Headquartered in Houston, Texas, KoSa has fourteen manufacturing sites in five countries and is one of the world's largest producers of specialty polyester fibers, polymers, and intermediates.
