Lowe's Companies, Incorporated (NYSE: LOW) (Wilkesboro, NC) is nearing completion of a $70 million automated distribution center in Cheyenne, Wyoming. The 1-million sqft western distribution center is being constructed in the Cheyenne business park off of Christensen road. The facility will contain over 5 miles of conveyor systems and employ 425 people once completed in June of 2002. The new Cheyenne site will serve as the 8th major distribution center for the company. General Contractor Hall-Irwin Corporation (Greeley, CO) is performing overall Construction Management services.
Lowe's Companies, Incorporated is the 14th largest retailer in the U.S. with annual sales exceeding $19 billion. The company has been pursuing an aggressive growth strategy for the past several years. Currently Lowe's operates seven major regional distribution centers in the U.S and has its 9th facility also underway in Findley, OH. Industrial Information Resources, Inc (IIR) is presently tracking Lowe's early development plans to construct two other 1 million sqft distribution centers in the northern and southern parts of the U.S. Completion for these locations is expected sometime in 2003.
