Marathon's Detroit Refinery Gets Air Permit to Boost Crude Oil Throughput - Michigan's environmental agency on Tuesday issued a new air permit to Marathon Petroleum Corporation (NYSE:MPC) (Findlay, Ohio) covering emissions from its Detroit refinery, which will allow the refiner to boost crude oil throughput at the plant. In March, Marathon filed an application with the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy to run its refinery continuously by removing monthly and annual throughput limits. The refinery's permit had capped its capacity at 140,000 barrels per day on an annual average, but the new permit removes limits on how much crude oil Marathon can put through the plant. U.S. Crude Oil Stocks Increase - U.S. crude oil inventories rose by 833,000 barrels to 419.1 million barrels in the week ending September 6, the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) said on Wednesday. Gasoline stocks rose by 2.3 million barrels in the week to 221.6 million barrels. Distillate stockpiles rose by 2.3 million barrels in the week to 125 million barrels, the EIA data showed. (Reuters)

PRODUCTION
Poland's Orlen Makes 'Big' Oil Discovery - Poland's largest refiner and energy firm Orlen (Plock) discovered a "big" oil field in western Poland, it said in a press release on Wednesday. The oilfield was discovered in the Lubuskie region next to the existing Rzeczyca field, which holds 100,000 metric tons of oil. The entire complex is now estimated to hold 500,000 tons of oil. After the development of the deposit, the site will produce 16,500 tons of oil annually. Tests at the site indicate a high probability of further oil deposit discoveries, Orlen said in a press release. (Reuters)
