Milk Dairy to Expand in Washington

The project involves expanding the dairy's milking parlor, holding corrals and feeding systems to increase milk production. Improvements and expansions to the holding lagoons will also be made to the dairy's waste management system to handle the additional manure that will be generated from having more livestock on-site.

Plans are to construct a new 20,000 square foot milking parlor with automated milking equipment and increase the cow shades by adding multiple 24,000 square foot pole barns to keep the cows cool, unstressed and comfortable before milking.

Oord selected Mountain States Construction Company (Sunnyside, Washington) as the general contractor for this $4 million project and once the conditional use permit is granted by the state, construction could begin as early as March or April of this year.

Once construction is completed in September of this year, the dairy will have some 760-acres of land making the dairy one of the largest in Yakima County.
