Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, Texas). Mint Farm Merchant Power Plant’s (Longview, Washington) new owner, Wayzata Investment Partners (Wayzata, Minnesota) is looking at possibly continuing construction on the 270-megawatt combined-cycle plant sometime by the end of 2006.

The plant’s previous owner, Mirant Corporation (NYSE:MIR) (Atlanta, Georgia), filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in mid-2003, which caused plant shutdowns and project cancellations, such as the combined-cycle addition at the Potrero Power Station (San Francisco, California), and West Georgia Generating Station (Thomaston, Georgia) steam turbine addition. The Mint Farm project was also on the list, and construction was suspended.

The seventy-five percent constructed natural gas-fired plant is equipped with a 170-megawatt General Electric Frame 7FA combustion turbine with a Foster Wheeler heat recovery steam generator (HRSG) and a 100-megawatt Fuji steam turbine.

Wayzata Investment Partners is still evaluating the situation, looking at the existing infrastructure at the plant, it already has transmission lines and a substation, before deciding on the exact timetable of completion.

Mint Farm Energy Center Limited Liability Company (LLC) (Wayzata, Minnesota) will be operating the plant once it is completed.

Wayzata Investment Partners specializes in private equity funds, focusing on physical assets and debt securities of distressed companies, usually those with bankruptcy status going through reorganization
