Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Houston Fuel Oil Terminal Company (Houston, Texas) has begun work for additional residual fuel oil and crude oil storage capacity. Industrial Info has been tracking the capacity expansion at Houston Fuel Oil's terminal at the Houston Ship Channel since 2006.
The second phase will add 1.6 million barrels of crude storage. Phase II will comprise four 400,000-barrel tanks and two 37,000-barrel surge relief tanks. Construction is scheduled to begin upon the completion of Phase I around spring 2009. The company will have approximately 13 million barrels in early to mid-2010 after both phases are complete.
Houston Fuel Oil has been serving the needs of electric utilities, refineries, carbon black manufacturers, marine bunker suppliers and oil traders since 1979. The terminal is the Gulf Coast's largest terminal dedicated to black oil. The entire 10 million-barrel (soon to be 13 million barrels) terminal is dedicated to storing, blending and moving crude and residual oil.
