Nevada Power Company Set to Begin 80-Megawatt Expansion at the Harry Allen Power Station

Construction for the project is set to begin during the second week of August and should be completed by the summer of 2006. The project will consist of adding an 80-megawatt natural gas-fired GE Power Systems MS7001EA combustion turbine generator to the existing site. The new turbine will operate in a simple-cycle peaking capacity generating power during periods when power demands are at their highest (summer and winter months). Harry Allen currently generates a total of 80 megawatts of power, but once the expansion project is completed, the plant will have a nameplate capacity of 160 megawatts to help meet the growing demands of Nevada Power's customers.

Lockwood Greene Constructors, headquartered in Spartansburg, South Carolina, will provide the turnkey services for the project.
