Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, Texas). Public Service Company of New Hampshire (PSNH) (Manchester, New Hampshire), a subsidiary of Northeast Utilities System (NYSE:NU ) (Hartford, Connecticut), is having Alstom Power (Windsor, Connecticut), a subsidiary of Alstom SA (OTC:ALSGY ) (Paris, France) replace the 1955 vintage unit 05 coal-fired boiler, with a state-of-the-art technology wood-fired boiler to reduce emissions as part of a $75 million renewable energy project and life extension project.
The new boiler will allow one addition of one employee for the wood handling and preparation. The local economy should get a boost of about $20 million per year. PSNH will also reap additional benefits of being able to sell Renewable Energy Credits (REC) to companies in Connecticut and Massachusetts, as well as in New Hampshire.
