Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Vineland Municipal Utilities (Vineland, New Jersey) is in the process of adding a 60-megawatt (MW) peaking unit at the Howard Down Power Station.
The utility is adding a Rolls Royce Trent 60 simple-cycle combustion turbine generator. The unit will use a wet low-NOx system, a selective catalytic reduction unit, and a CO catalyst to reduce emissions.
The facility will use an 80-kilovolt-ampere transformer from WEG Electric Corporation (Duluth, Georgia), a subsidiary of WEG Indústrias SA (Jaragua do Sul, Brazil). The facility will also have a gas compressor from Kobelco Compressors America Incorporated (Houston, Texas), a division of Kobe Steel Limited (PINK:KBSTY).
Barton Malow Company (Southfield, Michigan) is acting as general contractor on the project. Demolition of old equipment began in the fourth quarter of 2010. The addition is expected to be complete and operational by June 1, 2012.
