O’Neal Constructors Mobilizes for Construction of New SPF USA Pet Food Flavorings Manufacturing Plant in South Carolina

SPF North America, LLC, a subsidiary of Diana Ingredients Group (Vannes, France), is constructing a second North American manufacturing plant in Hodges, South Carolina. O’Neal Constructors (Greenville, South Carolina) was selected to design and construct a 50,000 square-foot building and is mobilizing on-site this week. Construction will begin immediately, with completion and production for the new $12 million plant scheduled by the end of 2007.

The plant is being built to take advantage of the growing U.S. market for specialty pet food. SPF will manufacture flavorings and “palatability enhancers” that are used as additives in pet food. A kennel for dogs and cats will be included on-site. The animals are used as taste testers for the company’s products.

Dogs and cats were invited to, and attended, the groundbreaking ceremony, which was held on Friday, December 1, 2006. SPF's first U.S. plant began operation a few years ago in Mondovi, Wisconsin.
