The ZacSol 1 power station would be in the city of Guadalupe. It would be the first utility-scale solar PV plant in Zacatecas. ZacSol 1 is planned as the first phase of a three-phase, multi-year project, to produce up to 90 megawatts (MW). The total investment value of the 30-MW first phase is estimated at $90 million.

Solectria Renewables will supply the inverters for the project, and PanelClaw (North Andover, Maryland) will provide supply the ground-mounted system.

The first phase of the project will use polycrystalline PV modules on a 250-acre site. Phase I would generate enough electricity for about 100,000 homes and prevent 160,000 tons of annual carbon dioxide emissions. Mexico's Federal Electricity Commission (Mexico City) would buy the electricity from the ZacSol station.

Construction and preparation for the project is estimated to create about 250 jobs. Operation and maintenance of the power station would employ four to six permanent workers.

Phase I of the project is scheduled to begin construction in early 2015, with full operations in April 2016.
