Patriot Renewables LLC Adds 20 Megawatts of Wind Energy to Maine with Spruce Mountain Windfarm

Patriot Renewable LLC (Quincy, Massachusetts) recently added 20 MW of wind power to the state of Maine through its Spruce Mountain Windfarm.

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--With uncertainty lingering about the renewal of the production tax credit (PTC), many wind power developers are pressing to have their project completed or under way before the end of 2012. Presently, more than 80 megawatts (MW) of wind energy that is scheduled to begin commercial operation this year is under construction in Maine.

The New England states of Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Vermont have seven wind projects under way that are rapidly approaching completion. Combined, these projects are projected to contribute more than 240 megawatts of wind power for the region.

Patriot Renewable LLC (Quincy, Massachusetts), a subsidiary of Jay Cashman Incorporated, recently added 20 MW of wind power to the state of Maine through its Spruce Mountain Windfarm near the village of Bryant Pond, in Woodstock, Maine. Construction of the project began in the summer of 2011 and was completed this year. The new wind project is equipped with 10 Gamesa G8x series wind turbines, each with a capacity of 2 MW.

Cianbro Corporation (Pittsfield, Maine) acted as the general contractor for the construction of the windfarm. During construction, more than 15 local contractors helped bring the project to fruition. Spruce Mountain will generate enough clean renewable energy to power more than 9,000 homes.
