Mexico's state-run petroleum refiner Pemex may revive plans to expand the existing 50,000-barrel-per-day (BBL/d) coker unit at its Cadereyta Refinery. The project was placed on hold in early 2018 due to budget constraints, but Mexico's government recently announced that the investment may be reconsidered in 2021. Pemex will need to revise the project scope.
Under the original plan, the unit capacity would be increased up to 75,000 to 85,000 BBL/d by adding two additional coke drums.
