Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--The feasibility report for Phase I of the Xinjiang Huaneng Tuokexun Baiyanghe windfarm was approved by an expert panel on April 2, 2008, in Beijing. The project, located north of Tuokexun County in the Tulufan Prefecture of the Xinjiang Uigur Autonomous Region, has a total planned installation capacity of 100 megawatts (MW) to be built in 2 phases.
Phase I will be built and operated by Huaneng Xinjiang Energy Development Company Limited (Urumchi, China), a fully owned subsidiary of China Huaneng Group. Huaneng Xinjiang Energy will be responsible for the development, investment and operation of energy projects in the Xinjiang region. Phase I will have 133 750-kilowatt wind turbines for a total capacity of 49.5 MW.

As a traditional energy giant, China Huaneng has been actively optimizing the structural adjustment of its energy sector by accelerating the development of energy projects, including wind power. So far, China Huaneng's wind power units in operation or under construction total 1,347 MW.
