P&M currently operates a 4.9 million ton per year coal mine located close to Kemmerer, in western Wyoming - Map Included
Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, Texas). Pittsburg & Midway Coal Mining Company (P&M) (Denver, Colorado), a subsidiary of ChevronTexaco (NYSE:CVX) (Houston, Texas), is making preliminary plans to construct its second coal mine in the state of Wyoming. P&M is in the process of attaining Wyoming Bureau of Land Management approval for a land exchange to acquire 2,045 acres in northern Sheridan County. The property is located in the western portion of the Powder River Basin (PRB) and abuts the Wyoming/Montana border. The proposed mine is being called the Ash Creek mine.
P&M envisions a 10 million ton per year truck and shovel mining operation with a 17-year mine life. Once the land exchange is approved, P&M will wait for corporate approval to proceed with mine planning and engineering. That process is expected to take 6-8 months.
The project will require either a six mile long overland conveyor to deliver coal to loadout points on the Burlington Northern Santa Fe rail line or an 8-9 mile rail spur to the mine.
P&M currently operates a 4.9 million ton per year coal mine located close to Kemmerer, in western Wyoming. Subbituminous coal is mined from the Green River and Ham Forks Deposits at the open pit Kemmerer mine.
