Plastic Manufacturer to Build $75 Million Plastic Bag Manufacturing Plant in South Carolina

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Poly-America LP (Grand Prairie, Texas), is moving forward with plans to construct a $75 million plastic bag manufacturing plant in Chester, South Carolina.

In October 2006, the company announced plans to construct a $100 million, 450,000- to 500,000-square-foot plastic bag manufacturing plant to be located in Chester, South Carolina, on a 200-acre site, but the plans were placed on hold. After final considerations and financing with the Chester County Economic Development Council, and with building materials and costs going down since it was first reported, plans have been amended and the project is moving forward. The 500,000-square-foot plant will now cost approximately $75 million to build. Designs are under way ,and a construction firm is expected to be selected before the end of the year. Site preparation is anticipated to begin around the first of the year with overall completion slated for the spring of 2011. Approximately 400 jobs will be created. The new plant will be called Poly-East.

They have manufacturing plans in Cottage Grove, Minnesota; Mont Belvieu, Texas; and Henderson, Nevada.
