Lower Mount Bethel Energy LLC (Bangor, Pennsylvania), a subsidiary of PPL Corporation (Allentown, Pennsylvania) has completed construction and is in startup testing for the $250 million Lower Mount Bethel Energy project (PEC 12002011) located in Bangor, Northampton County, Pennsylvania.
The 600 megawatt (MW) project, which started construction in November of 2001, is expected to be in full commercial operation by early March. The combined cycle project consists of two 185 MW dual fuel Siemens Westinghouse Power Corporation W501FD Combustion turbine generators, two duct-fired Vogt-NEM heat recovery steam generators, and a single 230-megawatt Siemens Westinghouse Power Corporation KN condensing steam turbine generator.
The generators will be located on a 25-acre site (Plant 1036738) adjacent on the northwest side of PP&L Incorporated's Martins Creek Power Station (Plant 1503204).
Foster Wheeler Incorporated (NYSE: FWC & OTC: FWLRF) (Hampton, New Jersey) provided the detailed engineering, and the construction services for the project.
