Recently Opened TKA Fabco Announces Expansion in Mississippi

has recently opened a new $10 million, 47,500 square foot manufacturing plant in the Tupelo Lee Industrial Park

Released Wednesday, October 29, 2003

Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated). TKA Fabco, a business unit of ThyssenKrupp Budd (Troy, Michigan) (a subsidiary of ThyssenKrupp Automotive Systems, Bochum, Germany), has recently opened a new $10 million, 47,500 square foot manufacturing plant in the Tupelo Lee Industrial Park in Shannon, Mississippi, near Tupelo (Plant 1058860), which will assemble body underframes for Nissan North America's recently-opened assembly plant in Canton, Mississippi. At TKA Fabco's official opening ceremonies earlier this month, the company also announced that it was already two months into a 52,500 square foot addition to the plant.

The addition represents a $20 million investment, and will eventually increase employment to 170. Jesco Incorporated (Fulton, Mississippi), general contractor for the original project, will also oversee the new construction.

Besides the Shannon, Mississippi, plant, TKA Fabco has three manufacturing plants in Ontario, Canada, located in Dresden, Ridgetown (Plant 2017321), and Windsor (Plant 2015843), and one other U.S. plant, in Springfield, Tennessee (Plant 1040697). TKA Fabco manufactures medium and heavy metal stampings, weldings, assemblies and systems.

In June of this year, the Canadian subsidiary of ThyssenKrupp Budd (Troy Michigan), ThyssenKrupp Budd Systems Canada Limited (Windsor, Ontario), producer of chassis modules for the automotive industry, announced that it had broken ground on a new plant in London, Ontario. The 40,000 square foot facility will be located in the Forest City Industrial Park in the Commerce Road-Concept Drive area, and will initially employ 70. Production of modules is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2004.

ThyssenKrupp serves the automotive industry through a variety of automotive and steel-related subsidiaries in North America. ThyssenKrupp Automotive Systems is among the 10 largest automotive suppliers in the world, with nearly $7 billion annual sales.
