Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated Houston, Texas). Family owned and operated free-roaming chicken egg producer, Rose Acre Farms Incorporated (Seymour, Indiana), has begun construction on a new $55 million egg farm and processing complex near Ponzer, North Carolina.
The site will be home to over four million hens, with fourteen hi-rise laying houses, three pullet houses, and breeding houses that will yield some 750,000 pullets annually. A feed mill, egg collection system, and a sorting and grading system, along with a packing plant, are also included in the project.
Rose Acre Farms is overseeing all of the construction activities of the complex, which is scheduled to be completed by October of 2006 and will create over 125 new jobs.
Founded in 1939, Rose Acre Farms is the number two egg producer in the United States. The company offers free-roaming eggs, which come from chickens that are kept in an open, cage-free hen house. These eggs are unique also, in that the feed is completely all-natural, with no added hormones, animal fats, or animal by-products. The chickens are free to run loose around the hen house.
