Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--The signing ceremony for the Sanyi Tongyu Wind Power Industry Park Project was held in Changchun, the capital city of northeastern China's Jilin province on January 21, 2008. The signing of the project will further accelerate the process of building Tongyu into a national wind power generation base and a wind power equipment-manufacturing base.
As reported, the proposed wind power industry park is located in the Tongyu Economic Development Zone, which occupies about 33.3 hectares. The project covers major production sectors, including wind turbines, blades and towers, and will be expanded to comprehensive services and other investment sectors if needed. Sany Electric Company Limited (Changsha, Hunan), a subsidiary of Sany Heavy Industry Company Limited (Changsha) (SHA:600031) will hold 80% of the project's shares. JIG New Energy Company Limited (Changchun, Jilin), a subsidiary of Jilin Investment (Group) Corporation Limited (Changchun, Jilin), and Tongyu State-Assets Operation Company will jointly hold the remaining shares.
Tongyu is a county rich in wind resources with total exploitable windfarm area of 1,600 square kilometers and exploitable capacity of 8,000 megawatts (MW). The county possesses the first 30.6-MW large-scale windfarm in northeastern China, which was commissioned in 1999. In 2004, the first 400-MW wind power concession project in Tongyu received approval from the National Development and Reform Commission. Well known wind power developers such as China Huaneng Group and Longyuan Group have launched wind power projects in the county. As of the end of 2008, the installed capacity of wind power in Tongyu was 495 MW. The total proposed installed capacity of wind power confirmed by agreements signed with more than a dozen wind power developers both from China and abroad in the past two years was 6,000 MW.
