Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Based on an analysis of active industrial capital and maintenance projects beginning construction in 2008 or scheduled to begin construction in 2009 or beyond, engineering and construction firms remain busy going into 2009. While cautious of recent announcements of project delays and operational cutbacks at North American plants and mines in 2009, many engineering and construction firms are working through a backlog of projects that have been growing over the past several years and will continue to keep them busy in the short term. Industrial Info is currently tracking more than 3,700 industrial projects in North America that have consulting, engineering or construction contractors working on them. These projects, representing $813 billion in total investment value, are either already under construction or are scheduled to begin construction in 2009-10.
