The following is an advisory by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources Inc; Houston, TX). Shell WindEnergy, Inc. (Houston, Tx) has acquired and started operation of its second wind farm in the United States. The Llano Estacado Wind Ranch is an 80 mega-watt (MW) power plant near White Deer, Texas. Cielo Wind Power LLC of Austin, Texas, developed Llano Estacado Wind Ranch. Shell's first wind farm was the Rock River I, a 50MW plant near Arlington, Wyoming developed by SeaWest WindPower of San Diego, California.
The wind generation plants utilize 1MW Mitsubishi wind turbine/generator sets to produce power, (50) sets at Rock River I and (80) sets at Llano Estacado. Rock River I became commercial in November 2001 & Llano Estacado started commercial operation on January 24, 2002. Shell WindEnergy is on its way to developing over 1,000MW in Europe & the United States.
