In March 2005, Silicon Valley Power (SVP) started full operation at its 147-megawatt (MW) Donald Von Raesfeld Power Station in Santa Clara, California. This power station is a combined-cycle power plant consisting of two 45 MW General Electric LM6000PC SPRINT combustion turbines and one 57 MW Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Steam Turbine.

Black and Veatch Corporation (Overland Park, Kansas) was awarded the engineering contract, and University Marelich Mechanical, a branch location of Marelich Mechanical Company Incorporated, handled the construction. Marelich Mechanical Company Incorporated, headquartered in Hayward, California, is a wholly-owned subsidiary of EMCOR Group, and was founded in 1932. University Marelich Mechanical is based in Anaheim, California.

This project will provide power to SVP's customers and help SVP meet expected load growth. SVP's total investment in this plant was $165 million.
