Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Following the startup of two 4,000-ton-per-day cement production lines in Kashi and Yecheng on August 26 and 27, 2010, Xinjiang Tianshan Cement Company Limited (Urumqi, Xinjiang) (SHE:000877), a regional subsidiary of China National Materials Company Limited (Beijing) (HKG:1893), the listed flagship of China National Materials Group Corporation (Sinoma) (Beijing), held the cornerstone-laying ceremony for a 4,500-ton-per-day cement production line in Chabu Chaer County of the Yili prefecture in the Xinjiang Autonomous Region on September 9, 2010.
This is the largest cement production line ever built by Tianshan Cement in Xinjiang, Sinoma announced on September 13, 2010. Yuxian Zhou, who is the president of Sinoma, and Lirong Zhang, the chairwoman of Tianshan Cement, as well as other leaders and representatives from related departments of Yili prefecture attended the ceremony.
The project is in the Yinan Industry Park of Chabu Chaer County. The facility will be adopted with a new type of dry pre-decomposition process and low-temperature waste-heat power generation technology for a a 4,500-ton-per=day cement clinker with a 9-megawatt waste-heat power plant. Total investment of the project will be $110 million.
As reported, the project will use local industrial slag to mitigate pollution to the environment. The adoption of waste-heat power generation could reduce the emission of greenhouse gas by reducing the exploitation and consumption of coal. Implementation of the project will eliminate inefficient production capacity and will promote energy conservation and emissions reduction in Xinjiang.
According to the schedule, the project is expected to begin operations at the end of 2011. Upon completion, the project could increase cement production capacity by 2 million metric tons andproduce 51.84 million kilowatt-hours of electricity every year.
Tianshen Cement is one of the 12 large-scale cement producers that receives key support from the state for structural adjustment in China. The company is the largest cement producer in northwestern China. Tianshen Cement currently has production lines in 12 prefectures in the Xinjiang region and the Jiangsu province. The company's production capacity is expected to reach 18 million metric tons by the end of this year.
