SKF Aeroengine Under Way with $18 Million Expansion in New York

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--SKF USA (MERC) Aeroengine North America is currently under way on an $18 million expansion of the company's ball and roller bearing manufacturing plant in Falconer, New York.

The company is expanding the existing plant by constructing a 9,600-square-foot heat-treat building with the installation of a high-tech vacuum furnace. The furnace will provide a heat-treatment process called Pyrowear 675 that involves both vacuum carburizing and vacuum hardening. Construction started in August 2010, and overall completion is slated for late summer 2011. The expansion will allow the retention of 691 jobs and bring together all local operations to the existing campus, implementing a state-of-the-art heat-treat operation with cutting-edge technology.

Habiterra (Jamestown, New York) was selected to provide architectural services for the expansion, and R&P Oak Hill Development LLC (Jamestown) is providing general construction services.
