Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--The U.S. labor movement has had a trying time in the last couple of years due to the impacts of the pandemic and other factors. However, unions have become more active in recent weeks in response to rising corporate profits, a severe national labor shortage and a widening income gap, leading to some on social media terming this month as "Striketober," according to Fortune's e-magazine.

Across the country, workers as diverse as those in cereal plants, as well as health care employees, carpenters and Hollywood film crews, have either gone on strike or were preparing to do so if negotiations were not successful.

Recently, agricultural equipment manufacturer John Deere & Company (NYSE:DE) (Moline, Illinois) saw 10,000 workers walk out, affecting 14 plants across the country, as the most recent offer by the company was rejected by the United Auto Workers Union.

Industrial Info is tracking 15 projects valued at $28.7 million across the U.S. at John Deere facilities. Subscribers to Industrial Info's Global Market Intelligence (GMI) Industrial Manufacturing Project Database can click here for related project reports. If this strike is as long as the last one at Deere (163 days in 1986), there could be major impacts to these and future projects.
