Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Swiss energy company Raetia Energie (Poschiavo, Switzerland) recently announced a hydropower project in Switzerland. The power plant group in the region of Praettigau, in the canton of Graubunden, will be expanded with the construction of the Chlus station. The 45-megawatt (MW) facility in Chlus near Landquart will use the lowest reach of the river in the Praettigau between Kueblis and Landquart.
The company is working on the concession project and expects to receive the permits in 2010. Construction is planned to begin in March 2011, with completion scheduled for March 2014. Raetia Energie will invest $185 million in the project.
The power plant will be equipped with two 22.5-MW Hydro Turbines. The tenders for equipment, a contractor and subcontractors will be opened by mid-year 2010.
The Chlus hydropower station is the second project of Raetia Energie in Switzerland. The company also plans to construct a 1,000-MW pumped-storage hydropower plant in the valley of Puschlav in Switzerland's canton of Graubunden. The company will invest $1.45 billion in the power plant project. For details, view related September 23, 2009, article - Swiss Company Raetia Energy Plans Pumped-Storage Hydropower Station.
