Toray Carbon Fibers Begins Construction on Plant Expansion in Alabama

Toray Carbon Fibers Americas (Decatur, Alabama), a subsidiary of the Toray Group, will begin civil site construction for a $25 million expansion of their Decatur, Alabama plant this week. The expansion will include an 80,000 square foot building addition, plus new production equipment to support the manufacture of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) fibers.

Toray's corporate design team in Japan provided the detailed engineering and planning for this estimated $25 million expansion that is scheduled to be complete by September of 2004.

Doster Construction Company (Birmingham, Alabama) ranked as one of the nation's top 400 contractors by ENR, has been awarded the general contract for construction of the building.
