Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--The Erlanger, Kentucky, branch of Toyota Boshoku Corporation (TYO:3116) (Kariya, Japan) is nearing completion of the construction of two new automobile-component manufacturing plants to be located in Mantachie, Mississippi, and Princeton, Indiana.

Construction of the Mississippi plant started in the spring of 2008 and consists of a 386,000-square-foot building to be built on a 40-acre site that will manufacture seats, door trims and carpets for the 150, 000 Highlander SUVs manufactured each year at the Toyota (NYSE:TM) plant in Blue Springs, Mississippi. Completion is slated for April 2009. Engineering Solutions Incorporated (Pontotoc, Mississippi) provided engineering and construction services for the site development, and Gray Construction Company (Birmingham, Alabama) provided construction services for the new plant. RJ Mechanical (Birmingham, Alabama) was selected to provide mechanical services for the new plant.

Construction also started in the spring of 2008 for a 201,400-square-foot building to be built in Princeton, Indiana, that will manufacture seat frames for the Toyota plant in Princeton, Indiana. Gray Construction Company (Bowling Green, Kentucky) provided design and construction services for the new plant in Princeton, and Green Mechanical Construction Incorporated (Lexington, Kentucky) provided mechanical services.

Toyota Boshoku Corporation, founded in 1918, is a member of the Toyota Group of Companies. Toyota Boshoku develops auto interior components, including seats, airbags, fabric goods and seat belt webbing as well as oil and gas filters, power train components, bumpers and fender liners. As of 2006, the company consisted of more than 21,000 employees and has more than 50 locations around the world.
