Transcontinental Gas Pipe Line Plans to Restart Compressor Station #50 in Louisiana

Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, Texas). Transcontinental Gas Pipe Line Corporation (Transco) (Houston, Texas), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Williams Companies, Incorporated (NYSE:WMB) (Tulsa, Oklahoma), is planning to restart its natural gas compressor station #50 located near Eunice, Louisiana. Compressor station #50 has been idle for some years and Transco plans to remove the majority of the existing equipment and facilities and replace them with more modern equipment and facilities.

Transco proposes to remove the existing building, two Allison turbines, the waste heat boilers, DeJaval compressors, a steam turbine & gear reducer, air cooled condensers, BFW pumps, oil coolers, water treating equipment and demolish the existing building. It is not known if Transco plans to reuse this equipment or dispose of the assets by sale or some other method. In its place, Transco plans to spend approximately $16.5 million to construct a new noise-insulated metal building with an overhead crane to house a new Solar Taurus T-70 SoLoNox turbine compressor package rated at 10,300 horsepower. Included in the balance of equipment to be added is a new 800 kilowatt emergency generator, air intake filtering system with silencer, turbine exhaust system with silencer, a new lubricating oil cooler, motor control center, suction and discharge valves with operators and yard piping with new switchgear. The proposed new equipment and facilities will be installed within the existing compressor station property.

Transco expects to have all permits in place some time in early 2006. All things considered, Transco hopes to have construction crews on site and equipment deliveries beginning in May of 2006. A preliminary completion date of November of 2006 has been set for the rebuilt compressor station #50.
