TRT-ETGO to Start Production at Becancour Vegetable Oil Refinery by March

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Twin River Technologies-Entreprise de Transformation de Graines Oleagineuses (TRT-ETGO) (Pointe Claire, Quebec) is on track to begin production at its new canola and soybean oil refinery at the Becancour industrial park in Quebec by March or early April. The new facility will focus on the production of vegetable oil for the Food Industry and protein meal for the animal feed industries. Total cost of the project is estimated to be $153 million. Once operational, the facility is expected to create 80 jobs.

The company retained the services of GENIVAR (Montreal, Quebec) to coordinate engineering services, construction management and detailed engineering work, including electrical and mechanical engineering, instrumentation, and piping. GENIVAR will also provide civil engineering technical support. Crown Iron Works Company (Minneapolis, Minnesota) was selected to supply major processing equipment.

TRT-ETGO plans to process 3,000 tons of grains daily (1 million tons annually) to meet the expected production capacity of 1,200 tons per day of refined vegetable oils at the facility. The remaining 18,000 tons will be transformed into protein meal for animal food.
